Stolen Voices – A workshop in listening and creative practice
Seventeen, 17 Belmont Street, Aberdeen, AB10 1JR
Wednesday 5th April 2017 6 – 8pm
Please join us on 5 April for a workshop on listening and creative practice. This workshop is open to all community members whether you already practice writing, painting, drawing, photography, ceramics, textiles, another discipline, or are just acoustically curious – we want to work with you to consider and explore everyday sounds. This work will feed into the creation of a new piece of music, to be performed on 2 July 2017 for the Silver City Stories programme.
The workshop is part of Stolen Voices, a project about listening in on Aberdeen. It uses everyday listening practices like eavesdropping to explore people’s experiences of public and private space, and to celebrate the sounds of a particular locality. This two-hour workshop will involve a series of ‘missions’ in public spaces, with upskilling in eavesdropping tactics from the artists, and group discussion on the outcomes of these missions.
The workshop is free, but an RSVP is essential – to do so, please email yourstolenvoice@gmail.com.
